My very geeky moment

Well today I finally finished fixing my computer. It had two fans that just didn't work, so I ordered some, and today put them in! Here are some pics:

To jailbreak ipod touch 2g

First, make sure you ipod has 2.2.1 (the most recent) firmware. If it doesn't, update it in itunes.
Next, put it in DFU mode.
1. Plug it in to your computer
2.Turn on your iPod
3. Hold the power and home buttons down (the iPod will power off after 10 seconds, but keep holding those buttons down)
4.After the iPod powers off, release the power button (but keep holding the home button down)
5.After a couple more seconds, you should hear that magical “ding dong” that means the iPod is coming back alive, and that Windows has detected it. You may even see a little “New hardware” popup in Windows. It is now safe to release the home button, and your iPod is in DFU mode.
6. It won't show anything on the ipod screen, but once your computer detects it, it is DFUed

Now download redsn0w: http://www.4shared.com/file/105973149/a4eae55/redsn0w.html

Run that file, and it should just be a big black box. If it says DFUed ipod detected (or somthing like that), it is ready to go. Press enter, and let it work some magic.
Once your ipod is done doing everything, it should boot up and you should have a jailbroken ipod, with cydia!

To jailbreak an ipod touch 1g

1) You'll need to download quickpwn: http://quickpwn2-2-1.googlecode.com/files/QuickPwn-225-2.zip
2) A. If you have updated your ipod in the last two months skip this step, or
B. Download this:http://download2us.softpedia.com/dl/33dd6dace30440b37d1a0e232eb4ffc2/4a02315b/400038026/mac/iPhone/Tools-Utilities/iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw
3) Unzip quickpwn, if you don't know how to unzip it let me know, shouldn't be to tuff just open the quickpwn folder when its done and press unzip on the left.
4) Run quickpwn, with your ipod pluged in, follow all of its directions,(only check cydia, no installer or custom logos) and when it says to locate the firmware, either click the iPod2,1_2.2.1_5H11a_Restore.ipsw right away (if you updated it recently), or find the one that you downloaded in 2)B.
It's going to tell you to press a bunch of buttons, don't pay attention to what your ipod is doing, try to follow the directions exactly.
If you dont get it right the first time, close everything and try again.
5) Once it seems to be back on, you should find the cydia icon somewhere in there. Click it, and let it update everything. Then you get ANOTHER restart, let it, and open cydia again. Everytime you open cydia, it takes awile, so be patient. If you don't understand how to work it, let me know. But search and install these apps: ( some of them require it to restart, so let it restart. then open it again and keep installing)
A.Dtunes: lets you download music right there, for free. But at the moment doesn't work because the server is down.
B. Mxtube: download youtube videos so you can watch them offline.
C. Winterboard: lets you custumize, gives yourself your own background, icon themes, whatnot. Play around in the cydia sections to find custom keyboards, sounds, themes, etc.
D. Ok before you install this you have to click (in cydia) manage, sources, edit, add, then type cydia.hackulo.us then press add or ok or whatever. It should then reload, not restart. Then search and add INSTALLOUS: this allows you to search for apps that normally would cost money, for free. You just need to search, go to the bottom of the app page, click the latest version, one of the sources, then look for the download button on that page. then in downloads of the bottom of the whole app, click the thing you just downloaded, and press install. FREE APPS!
E. (opt.) Springboard. Just allows you to instantly have misc. options, by swiping on the top of your screen like brightness and others.

That should be it. I kinda gave you every detail, but just like to be specific. Let me know if you have questions

Look outside

Ok so I don't know much, but you should check this site out. (http://www.savedarfur.org/content?splash=yes) Somtimes, even though it can suck to think about, you got to look outside your world. I mean yeah, I'm only in high school, but you can at least be educated. Maybe spread the word a little bit. Because if you did, maybe sombody else will. And hey, maybe sombody with authority will notice. Draw a little attention, and maybe, just maybe, richer countries like the U.S.A. could do somthing about it. Maybe put a few of our taxpayer dollars somewhere else.
Yeah, I'm kind of just thinking out loud here, but maybe more people could notice.
I just read: Last year, Barack Obama pledged to bring peace to Darfur with "unstinting resolve."
We're waiting.
^^^^^
Thats what caused me to write about this. Thats sweet Matt.

Best day of the year

Yeah so today is my birthday, pretty awesome. I didn't really do much, ate at Olive Garden which is delicious. I'm certainly no expert, but I think this whole Swine Flu thing is being blown out of proportion. If you follow President Obama at all, he says we should act quickly, which I agree with. I hear he plans to spend plenty of our taxpayer dollars to get the meds out to the country, and these meds can effectivly treat it. Which might not be entirely neccacary, because from what I read its not much worse than the flu. I bet by the time 2010 rolls around, more people will have died from the flu then the DEADLY swine flu. One of Obama's youtube videos explained the things you should do to prevent it: stay home if your sick, wash your hands, and cover your mouth when you cough, etc. (sounds a little bit like flu, right?) I mean it would have been better to post this last week, because it has settled a little bit.
And, My sister rocks.

Is the Swine Flu deadly, or diddly. (found the word diddly in the thesaurus)
along with wikipedia, (yeah crappy source, thats why i had others), and articles from USA Today's and The New York Times' websites.

First entry

Ok so first of all, anybody with the good old ipod video should check this site out: ipodwizard.net
I did it when i had my video, you can do some pretty sick stuff to make your ipod "stand out."

Since I just started this, I suppose I'll give a little introduction. I decided today that it might be cool (in my 'geeky' eyes) to just have a blog like this. I'm going to try to keep it updated with things I find cool, somtimes my opinion, or just random things I think about. And I'll try to end them with a cool quote, or just a question to think about.

So today: Would you think you lived a good life, if you died tomorrow?
